TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 12 Points Public Market will open their doors to the public on September 5, bringing a new type of establishment to Terre Haute.

September 5 is a date on a lot of minds in Terre Haute. The market will be the first of its kind in the city, and owner Pat Goodwin says the inspiration for the market came from great experiences in food halls across the country.

“We had recently bought this building here in 12 Points,” Goodwin said. “We thought we could do something like that, maybe on a smaller scale than some of the big cities, but on a smaller scale, and offer space to small food startups here in 12 Points.”

One of those businesses is Anna’s Hands Soul Food. Owner Shannon Hart says she is grateful to have a permanent location after operating out of a food truck for the last three years.

“It’s amazing for our customers to just know where we are all the time, because when you’re on a food truck it takes a lot of maneuvering to just get everybody to where you are, and to also have a place where we can more serve them our hospitality,” Hart said. “It’s a blessing, it really is.”

Not only will the market have soul food, but Goodwin says it will be a one-stop shop that has something for everyone.

“We want to have a place here in the heart of 12 Points that people know they can come to pretty much any time of the day, 6 out of 7 days of the week,” Goodwin said. “Find something to eat, find a hot cup of coffee, find in the evenings a cold beer or glass of wine, and sit and relax and spend a little time in our neighborhood.”

After opening, the market’s hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
