WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County School Corporation and the Patrick S. Barrett Foundation are set to partner up once again for its annual Tackle Childhood Cancer fundraiser.

This fundraiser is always in September because it is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. They raise money at Friday night football games at local high schools where they sell Miracle Minutes, t-shirts, and other merchandise.

Each school within the school corporation has their own color shirt and will all wear them on the scheduled Tackle Childhood Cancer Day.

Molly Barrett created the Patrick S. Barrett Foundation in her son’s memory. She said it means the world to her to be able to spread awareness within the school system.

“We know that we are not only remembering Patrick, but we are doing good for kids who are facing this,” said Barrett. “To have the support of the entire school corporation, especially one close to us. We had three kids graduate from Terre Haute North, so we are close to this community, and it means a lot to us.”

This week’s Tackle Childhood Cancer game will be at the Northview and Sullivan game at Sullivan High School.
