Repeated vandalism at Morris Place Bridge

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local officials are calling for drivers to be careful on a bridge that is in need of repair.

The bridge is located in Vigo County on Morris Place just north of Prairieton. It has been reduced to one lane for nearly two years, but Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard says that there is signage up, but it has continuously been removed and thrown into the creek bed below. This can cause issues for highway crews and drivers, as there is a weight limit that restricts large trucks.

“You know it takes time,” Clinkenbeard said. “When those barricades aren’t up, it’s not as easy to see, especially at night, that this is closed. We do have adequate signage up here, we just ask that if you see anything, let us know, call the Sheriff’s Department, and just be careful when you’re down this way.”

Clinkenbeard says that the best case scenario is that repairs can begin in September 2025.
