GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Linton Fire Department is giving away free smoke detectors.

The department wants to remind everyone that most smoke detectors go bad after 10 years. They are also partnering with the Greene County Ambulance Service so that they can install these detectors in all of Greene County.

Linton Fire Chief Eric Carpenter said these detectors are a lifesaver.

“At any time, these smoke alarms could save a life and get people out of a fire because of its early detection, which obviously results in a better outcome for the fire department,” said Carpenter.

Carpenter said anyone interested can reach out to the fire department or Greene County Community paramedic Jennifer Knight.
