Two arrested after child death

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Two residents of Terre Haute were arrested in relation to an infant death on May 4.

According to a Facebook post from the Terre Haute Police Department (THPD), two Terre Haute natives have been arrested and charged with a level 1 felony of neglect of a dependant resulting in death.

According to the post, officers were dispatched at around 8 a.m. to the 3200 block of N 13th 1/2 Street for reports of a nine-month-old in cardiac arrest. When the officers arrived the infant was already deceased.

The THPD Juvenile Detectives, Department of Child Services, the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Vigo County Coroner’s Office conducted an investigation into the child’s death. Due to their findings, Chantell A. Bender (22) and Amecie K. Woods (21) were arrested Tuesday. They were taken to the Vigo County Jail.
