TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is coming up this weekend at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute.

Deana Wilson from Westminster Village in Terre Haute joined David and Jen Wednesday morning on WTWO 6:30 Today to talk about the event and her personal connection to Alzheimer’s. You can see the full interview at the top of the page.

Events start Saturday at 9:00 a.m. The opening ceremonies kick off at 9:45 a.m.

“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are now treatments that change the course of the disease,” said Devon Pulliam, manager, Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Terre Haute. “We hope that everyone in our community can join us by starting a team to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments, and ultimately a cure.”

Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Indiana, there are more than 121,300 people living with the disease and 216,000 caregivers.
