SHELBURN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — UPDATE: No injuries occurred during the Fire on Sunday according to IU Health and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

A post by the Sheriff’s Office Monday stated that first responders were called to an ambulance on fire on U.S. Highway 41 in Shelburn. When they got to the scene it was determined to be a Lifeline Ambulance with a juvenile patient on board. The crew were able to get themselves out along with the juvenile without sustaining any injuries.

After that, the crew and patient were loaded onto Sullivan County Ambulances and transported to Terre Haute Airport where Lifeline then took the patient. The fire was put out and the State Fire Marshal was called in to determine a cause.

U.S. 41 northbound lanes were closed off due to an IU Health ambulance catching fire in Shelburn on Sunday afternoon.

Around 12 p.m., traffic was diverted due to the fire shutting down U.S 41 northbound lanes. It appeared to our crew at the scene that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.

WTWO will provide updates as we receive them.
