ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute South alum Timmy Herrin is in the midst of an excellent season for the Cleveland Guardians.

Despite the on field success, Herrin says one of the things he’s most proud of is representing his hometown of Terre Haute on baseball’s biggest stage.

“It’s a great feeling to represent Terre Haute,” Herrin says, “Coming from there, we didn’t have a lot of guys that when I was young were at the highest levels. Being able to be that someone to look up to for the kids there and really show them if you put your mind to it and work as hard as you can anything can happen. I hope I give some hope in that sense.”

Herrin has a 1.98 ERA for Cleveland this season out of the bullpen with 66 strikeouts in 73 appearances and has helped pitch Cleveland to its 2nd Central Division title in the last 3 seasons. Herrin says getting the opportunity to experience playoff baseball is something he’s dreamed about his whole life.

“Growing up wanting to play MLB, I got to do that but now being able to play in the postseason and getting some October baseball, it’s very exciting, Herrin says, “There’s no other playoffs like playoff baseball. So, I’m super excited to get that opportunity to play. I think it starts with us being a very close knit group. We really support each other, we’re really close and I think throughout the year we’ve leaned on each other when things were tough. We feed off each other doing well and we do just as well so we can keep the thing going.”
