CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)— One man was pronounced dead after an accident on County Road 1400 E Sunday afternoon in Crawford County, Illinois.

According to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident with entrapment shortly after noon on County Road 1400 East in Robinson Township. Clinton Keown, 44, of Evansville was driving with a passenger in a 2023 Tesla Model Y traveling southbound on County Road 1400 East .011 miles south of County Road 900 North when he went off the west side of the road. The vehicle continued over a field entrance, struck the face of a guardrail, continued through it, and then went over several large rocks before coming to a stop in an empty creek bed.

Crawford County Rescue, LaMotte Fire Department, and United Lifecare Ambulance Service were also dispatched to the scene. Emergency personnel performed extraction measures for both Keown and his passenger. Keown was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m. while passenger Matthew Redd, 44, of Newburgh, was taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital but was then transferred to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville Indiana.
