PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An impressive display in a local corn maze is drawing attention.

The concept helps Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology celebrate 150. This is the sixth year for the corn maze, and other institutions have sponsored it in the past. L&A Farms co-owner Brian Lau says the idea comes to life with help from Precision Mazes, a company in Missouri.

“You just give them a concept of what you want the maze to look like,” Lau said. “The universities have kind of provided what they got an idea, or like last year, we did our farm logo in it. Basically, they generate it on the computer, and then they have a skid steer loader with GPS, and they come out and mow the paths in the corn after the corn has been planted.”

The corn maze is divided into five mini mazes. Lau says people are welcome to do as many as they please, and there are prizes available.

“This entrance that I’m standing in is also the exit, so you’ll go into a courtyard,” Lau said. “After that courtyard, you’ve got five different mazes that you can explore. In each maze, there’s a checkpoint with a hidden fact. This year the hidden facts are about Rose-Hulman, and if you find all five checkpoints, you can go back to the store and there’s a wheel that you can spin for a chance to win a prize.”

The festivities at L&A Family Farms are in operation from 7-10 p.m. on Fridays, and noon-10 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, visit their website .
