TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Big renovations are coming to the Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club. The Vigo County Commissioners aided the cause by presenting a $100,000 ARPA check.

The Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club now calls part of the old Meadows Elementary School building home. Despite several relocations, Vigo Co. Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard says it continues to make a positive impact.

“The Boys & Girls Club has been a fixture in the community for a long time,” Clinkenbeard said. “They do great work, especially now more than ever. They have after school programs and things like that. With some of the ARPA funds, we’ve tried to address those types of programs, the nonprofits that are out here doing the hard work.”

With some renovations already underway, Boys & Girls Club unit director Ashton Stevenson says she is grateful for the funding and hopes to continue doing the hard work.

“We’re super excited. We couldn’t do the things that we’re doing here without support from our community,” Stevenson said. “These funds will help us, we have a lot of renovations going on our side of the building, so it will go toward some of those renovations as well as just updating any programs for our kids that we have coming at the Boys & Girls Club.

Officials say renovations are expected to be complete by the end of 2024.
