Fla. (WTWO/WAWV) — Duke Energy of Indiana has sent around 80 employees and released over 100 contactors to aid in the hurricane efforts.

Duke Energy of Indiana says utilities have a long-standing tradition of helping one another and it’s Indiana’s turn to lend a hand to Florida.

Workers include lineman, damage assessors, and vegetation crews.

The department says it will take many different types of skilled workers to complete all the tasks an event like this brings.

A group of line workers, as well as people such as damage assessors and vegetation crews. One of the first things you do, after any storm, particularly major events like this, is you assess the damage. We also have a need for vegetation professionals to clear away trees and limbs that may have brought down power lines or may be blocking roads.

Duke Energy of Indiana does not know how long their employees will be down there.

They say it will depend on the scale of the damage.
