TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV) — Big news regarding an eyesore on the north side of Terre Haute.

Today on WAWV’s Live at Five, Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun revealed the city has received money to cleanup the old Columbia Enameling manufacturing plant.

“It will clean it up and get it to a point where it’s just kind of a field and fencing. The next step of the conversation is how can we find a way to acquire that parcel, I would love it if the city had it,” said Sakbun.

In the near future, Sakbun said a press conference will be held to answer questions about the cleanup and what will take place on the property. The mayor would like to see the site turned into a retail or housing area.

He also said eventually, there will be a website where residents can find out about the project and ask questions.

The city doesn’t need it. Let it go to the private sector. Then the city could at least generate tax revenue. Typical democrat mayor. Spend spend spend.
