Terre Haute Children’s Museum gets surprise proclamation

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Children’s Museum received a big surprise from local officials in the form of a proclamation.

Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun and the Vigo Co. Commissioners came together to declare October 9 “Terre Haute Children’s Museum Day”. The proclamation honors the museum’s efforts during their award-winning “Total Eclipse of the Haute” festivities. Museum executive director Susan Turner says they were one of eight museums across the country to win a Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award from the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

“Our community is very fortunate to have a strong network of museums and the fact that we got to lead the efforts for the eclipse is really cool,” Turner said. ” It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I’m just really proud of us.”
