TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Guys Who Give, a local philanthropic organization, held a check presentation for their third-quarter winner Wednesday.

The $6,750 check went to St. Joseph University Parish’s Utility Assistance Fund. This program helps people who may be struggling to pay utilities and do not qualify for other assistance programs.

Anna McDaniel, the business manager of St. Joseph University Parish, says they are so pleased to have the extra funds to help.

“We have only been able to help not quite 10% of the people who actually need help on a monthly basis, so we’re so pleased to increase that percentage a little bit and try to reach more people that are needing help,” McDaniel says.

The check will be matched by money from the Lilly Endowment making the grand total $13,500.

McDaniel adds people seeking assistance must apply through the Salvation Army in Terre Haute.
