TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State University announced the list of individuals who will be honored at the annual President’s Dinner on November 15.
ISU has announced the recipients of the John P. Newton Spirit of ISU Award, the Student Philanthropy Award, and the most prestigious award the March On! Award. The awards were given to 9 people and one student-led organization.
“The March On! Award recognizes those who have selflessly given to enrich the student experience at Indiana State,” said Andrea Angel, Vice President of University Advancement and CEO of the Indiana State University Foundation. “We could not be more grateful to honor these individuals and to thank them for being such generous and loyal friends to the University.”
The recipients of the March On! Award are R.T. Green, Ken and Rita Senseman, Jeff and Penny Taylor, and Steve and Lois Zink. R.T.

The Sensemans, Ken from the class of 1980 and Rita from the class of 1983, have donated to multiple initiatives for Indiana State including the swimming and diving team and the Bailey College of Engineering and Technology. Rita is currently the director of the ISU Foundation Board as well.
The Taylors, Jeff from the class of 1975 and Penny from the class of 1976 have been supporters of the Scott College of Business since graduating. And finally the Zincs, Steve from the class of 1974 and Lois from the class of 1975, have been donors to the school’s history department.
The John P. Newton Spirit of ISU Award is given annually to Sycamores who embody a strong commitment and dedication to the university. The award was created in 2010 to honor John Newton’s longstanding dedication and service to ISU and as an alumnus and university leader. This year the recipients were Bob and Julie Baesler.
Bob and Julie not only own and operate the Baesler’s Market locations through the Wabash Valley, they also donate food to Harmony Haven, support the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club, and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. The husband and wife duo also are involved with the ISU Board of Trustees, Foundation Board, Sycamore Athletics, Alpha Tau Omega, and Chi Omega.
“Bob and Julie have deep-rooted Sycamore pride and are outstanding examples of engaged and devoted alumni,” said Angel. “We are so pleased to honor the Baeslers for their years of incredible contributions to the Terre Haute community and Indiana State University.”
Lastly, the Student Philanthropy Award recognizes a student organization on campus that demonstrates a spirit of philanthropy and portrays ‘Sycamores Supporting Sycamores.’ This year’s recipient was the State Dance Marathon. The State Dance Marathon is the largest student-led organization at ISU and they organize an annual fundraiser to support Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
“We are thrilled to honor a student organization for their remarkable efforts throughout the year,” said Drew Daming, President of the Student Philanthropy Organization. “State Dance Marathon is constantly working hard to fundraise each year for the children of Riley Hospital. Their philanthropic impact spans beyond Indiana State University, an achievement more than fitting for the Student Philanthropy Award.”
