Brazil man arrested after officers find unconscious woman in home

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man is behind bars after officers located an unconscious woman inside a Brazil home.

According to a press release from the Brazil Police Department, on Friday Oct. 11, officers were dispatched to a physical altercation that was occurring at the Lake Brazilian Estates in Brazil, Indiana. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious woman that had several injuries.

Brazil firefighters began treatment, but the woman was later flown to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment.

While on the scene, officers located and arrested 34-year-old Michael A. Sheppard of Brazil. Sheppard was then transported to Clay County Jail and incarcerated.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no other information is available at this time.
