UPDATE: According to Illinois State Police, a preliminary investigation indicated that the crash was a two-vehicle crash involving a truck-tractor/semi-trailer. One person was pronounced dead on the scene. The east-bound lanes of I-70 were closed, and at 6:18 p.m. one lane reopened.

    Original:

CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A crash on I-70 between Martinsville and Marshall, Illinois caused the east-bound lane to be closed.

Multiple fire engines, ambulances and a tow truck were on scene. Our reporter who went to the accident says traffic wasn’t allowed through, putting miles of vehicles at a standstill. People tried to pass through but were asked by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office to re-route on-to U.S Highway 40.

We reached out to Illinois State Police, but they have not responded at this time.
