GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An investigation led to the discovery of two bodies and one person is charged with murder by the same agency.

However, officials have not yet confirmed that the two incidents are connected.

Samantha Jerrell and her son Colton were reportedly last seen Sunday in Lyons. The Greene County Sheriff said Thursday night that two bodies have been found — but they would not confirm if they are the two missing persons.

The discovery came after a heavy police presence — that was reported yesterday near the Bear Run Mine in Carlisle.

Jail records also show that 35-year-old Joshua Penick was arrested on murder charges. Police have not yet confirmed that he has a connection to the missing persons investigation. Penick has been arrested and charged with murder, obstruction of justice, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, neglect of a dependent causing death and interfering with public safety. Penick is also currently awaiting trial for previous charges of possession of marijuana, and six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor after allegedly having a relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
