CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man killed in a crash this week in Clark County was trying to help hurricane victims.

Hayden Ryel, 20, of Hennessey, Oklahoma, was killed in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday while travelling between Martinsville and Marshall, Illinois. Ryel, a firefighter, was also well known on TikTok where he accumulated more than 50,000 followers and multiple videos with 500,000 views or more.

Ryel was a member of the Dover Fire Department, according to its Facebook post.

“It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our own,” the department wrote. “Hayden will be missed greatly. Our hearts go out to his family and our community in this difficult time. Go rest high on that mountain buddy we got it from here!”
