Marsh Fork Elementary welcomes Career Fair

ROCK CREEK, WV (WVNS) — From a young age we are asked what we want to be when we grow up.

Lesle Wickline, Guidance Counselor for Marsh Fork Elementary School said she wants her students to have an array of options to choose from.

“Kids at this age are so impressionable, so if you can even plant a little seed of ‘Oh, well this is interesting. I can be a police officer, I could be a welder, I could be a nurse, or work for the news.’ Even that little bit of a seed gives them an idea that there’s other things out there besides what they’re used to,” said Wickline.

Becoming a school administrator, nurse practitioner, meteorologist, and even reporter are now options that these pre-kindergarteners through fifth graders could have in mind.

They also were taught about the options for vocational schools and apprenticeships aside from college.
