BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) – An old hotel is getting a facelift in Bluefield.

The old ‘Travelers Hotel’ is one of the few remaining hotels in the Bluefield, West Virginia area.

The hotel used to be a pitstop for African American men who were traveling to hang up their hats when they were in town. The hotel was constructed in the 1920’s and has fallen into disrepair.

Members of The Bluefield Arts & Revitalization Corporation, have their sights set on fixing the building.

“This building in particular is the oldest remaining green back hotel in Bluefield. Which once had many throughout the city,” said Brian Tracey, the Executive Director of BARC.

The building will be home to an apartment complex on te top, with space for retail on the bottom.

The time stamp for completion is between 3 to 4 years at this point.
