Local Beckley church hosts annual back-to-school fest

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – It is almost that time for kids to go back to school.

The United Apostolic Faith Church hosted their annual Back to School Summer Fest. They were passing out free school supplies and more to help local kids get ready to take on the school year. They even put on their own wrestling show.

Timothy Schofield, the church’s pastor said it is important to continue holding this event for the entire community.

“Many times, we talk about making the community better, but no one reaches out. So, we are interested in reaching out to the community. If we can contribute something to make the community better, then it helps all of us,” Schofield told 59News.

There were several vendors in attendance from around the region, including WVU Tech, Bluefield State University, and the City of Beckley Fire Department.

This event was free for anyone and everyone to attend.
