CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — Governor Jim Justice declared a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties within West Virginia as Tropical Storm Debby continues to bring potential flash flooding, rain, and wind in its wake.

While we need the rain in West Virginia, we need to absolutely be ready for the potential impact Tropical Storm Debby may bring. I have ordered our state agencies to prepare to respond immediately if necessary. We’re ready to provide all possible resources should flooding or other weather incidents occur.

The State of Preparedness lets the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD) to respond to emergencies that may arise. Other agencies are placed on standby to assist the State Emergency Operations Center when the time comes.

Governor Justice and the WVEMD request that all West Virginians continue to monitor the conditions through local weather reports and follow guidelines issued by emergency services.
