BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Raleigh County Schools hosted their Back-to-School Wellness and Community Fair.

Not only were different schools in Raleigh County set up at this event, but many outside vendors came to offer kids free school supplies.

Among the 64 vendors in attendance, the ACT offered free haircuts, Raleigh County Schools’ child nutrition program gave out free food, and lots of fun games were being played at many of the vendor stations.

Eric Dillon, the assistant superintendent of Raleigh County Schools told 59News why it is important to hold this event.

“I think it is an opportunity for students and family to get acclimated again after the summer with their schools and it also promotes a healthy lifestyle with all the wellness activity, we have going on today,” said Dillon.

This event was completely free for all Raleigh County students and their families to attend.

Dillon estimated that around 2,000 people in total attended the back-to-school event.
