False fall mornings with warmer afternoons become the norm this week

Tuesday, a warm front towards the west follows the Jet Stream south through Tennessee proving a few more clouds than Monday. A stray light shower early on with high pressure working in for the afternoon to clear us out. Temps remain muted with northeast winds 1-5mph falling just below average in the upper 70s.
The rest of the day will be nice with lower humidity. By sunset, temps begin to cool off with clear skies for the night. Low 60s by midnight before sinking into the upper 50s just before dawn. A nice, cool night to give the AC’s a rest again.
Wednesday we enjoy another high pressure system working southeast from the Great Lakes. A touch more humidity but well within the comfy zone. Highs manage to reach our August average of 80 degrees. High level clouds filter in from time to time but otherwise, we dry and beautiful again. Lows are slightly warmer closer to the low 60s for most with the exception of the high terrain and deep valleys in the upper 50s.
Thursday another warm front dives south through Tennessee providing a few more clouds at times in an otherwise mostly sunny day. A stray shower towards the eastern mountains is about all we can expect but even here, it won’t last long. Highs manage the low 80s with a few spots west of Beckley trying really hard for the mid 80 mark. Overnight lows stay just north of 60 degrees for most.
Friday is a nice day to start with blue skies and temps warming up steadily into the low 80s by the afternoon. A few clouds start rolling in for the afternoon as a cold front approaches. A stray shower from time to time into the evening before steadier rains move in late into the night. With the extra clouds around overnight, lows stay in the low 60s. Heavier rains are set to move west to east just in time for Saturday morning.
Saturday is looking more of a soggy day as we say goodbye to the State Fair of West Virginia. Fireworks at this point in the forecast are looking iffy. There still some wiggle room on the exact timing our cold front crosses the region so if we can manage to get it in and out early enough we’ll begin to dry out late into the day. However, one should plan on a solid umbrella day with scattered showers and isolated rumbles rolling through from time to time. Highs are cooler in the upper 70s with less sunshine.
Sunday morning a few showers remain but we’re on the drier side of the cold front by this point allowing for more breaks in the skies for sunshine to filter in. We’re drier on the evening side with highs in the mid to upper 70s before cooling off to the low 60s overnight.
Monday aside from mostly cloudy skies and predawn sprinkles, we clear up as the day gets started. With more sunshine into the afternoon, highs reach the upper 70s.
In your extended forecast, the first week of school for some is looking summer-like with highs near average in the low 80s. A few spotty shower chances for the afternoons as humidity makes a return. Our Jet Stream nudges north putting us on the warmer and more humid side but outside of that, no real rain chances are looking promising. Inching closer to peak hurricane season, we’ll be watching the tropics closely with “Tropical Storm Ernesto” getting started in the Atlantic Ocean.
