Former Backyard BBQ winner wins 30 awards at State Fair!

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) – With competition for different events comes many awards at the State Fair! You might remember Sarah Feamster – she was our Backyard Barbecue winner back in July! When 59 News cooked for Sarah, her family and friends back in July, she was working on her garden. Her hard work was rewarded, as Sarah has already won 30 awards this year at the state fair – including first place with her pineapple! For her though, it’s much more than just winning an award.

“It’s my therapy, just bringing all of my flowers up to see if I do place and if I don’t place, that’s fine too but I like to see the people that I’ve known for a long time and I like to see their faces – like looking at the pineapple,” says Sarah Feamster.

Sarah is from the Alderson area and has been competing at the State Fair with her flowers, fruits and many other items since 1994 and plans to keep competing next year! She is up for more awards that have not been announced yet at the State Fair.
