    Local honey ‘buzzing’ for sale at State Fair

    GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) – Attendees at the State Fair of West Virginia are always “buzzing” with excitement with plenty of bee products available from in the Mountain State.

    Steven Hamrick, a beekeeper spanning nearly 50 years utilizes different blooms in our region in preparing honey, such as autumn olive, tree of heaven and May spring flowers.

    Local bee expert explains what the buzz is all about

    “Been beekeeping for nearly 46 years – six months before I got married, I started keeping bees. My queen bee is my wife. I just love working with bees – it gives me a peace of mind working with bees and I love to tell people about bees and how to keep bees and just all things talking with people, I just love doing that,” remarks Steven Hamrick, who runs Rimfire Apiaries and is selling honey.

    The importance of honey bees on our lives

    Hamrick also loves sharing his knowledge of beekeeping to others to keep the tradition going.

    He will even deliver his honey through the mail in plastic packages! Free samples are available at the State Fair of West Virginia this week!
