Clouds increase tonight; scattered showers and storms for Friday

Tonight features increasing clouds and it’s a warmer night as a result with low temperatures in the mid 60s. Once again, it’s a great evening to enjoy outside for dinner or if you’re checking out the Bailey Zimmerman concert here at the State Fair of West Virginia!
Friday brings a better chance for scattered showers and storms, with a warm front lifting north through the region. It’s not a washout but a few storms will be a good bet in a more unsettled pattern. We’ll see highs in the low to mid 80s. A strong or two can’t be ruled out in between scattered showers, with damaging wind gusts being the primary threat. This threat is low overall and will be most likely in the afternoon.
Saturday continues our risk for showers as Friday’s warm front is followed by a cold front on Saturday. A few showers will still be a good bet with high temperatures closer to 80. We’ll have some break in the activity but if you plan to be at the State Fair of West Virginia for its final day, just bring the umbrella in case you get caught under a shower or two.
Sunday keeps the risk for showers once again as our system takes its time getting out of the area. An upper level low spinning over the Great Lakes will keep showers around Sunday into Monday. We’ll see a few showers once again with plenty of breaks and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
Monday continues our risk for scattered showers with our upper level low nearby with highs remaining in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
Tuesday features plenty of sunshine with high temperatures in the upper 70s as a big area of high pressure noses in. This feature will keep our days dry ahead.
Wednesday continues our sunny conditions with a broad area of high pressure keeping the nice weather in our region. We’ll see highs near 80.
Thursday keeps the sun going strong and the summer-like temperatures returning with highs in the low 80s.
Friday could provide a brief isolated shower with a little bit of heat and humidity as a southwest breeze kicks back in, but overall, it’s another nice day with highs in the low 80s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, we’re looking at just isolated chances for showers ahead as a summertime airmass continues that will feature highs generally in the low 80s Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
