BLUEFIELD, VA (WVNS)– It’s only the second day of school for Tazewell County in Virginia, but already a threat was made- causing police to intervene.

Early Friday morning on August 16, 2024, Graham Middle School received a dangerous threat by phone, according to the Bluefield Virginia Police Department.

Officers immediately responded to the threat and quickly placed a perimeter around the school campus. They were also sent inside the school to further investigate and scope out any potential danger.

Officers believed the threat was not made locally, and that similar threats were made to multiple schools throughout the country.

Still, out of precaution, an increased police presence was stationed inside and around Graham Middle School and nearby schools to make sure all staff and students remain safe.
