WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WVNS) – It was certainly a wet one at the Greenbrier Resort on Friday, August 16, 2024, but it also was a day that marked the 100th round of golf in LIV Golf history.

Golfer Andy Ogletree took time to reflect on the first ever LIV Golf Tournament that took place in London back in 2022.

“For me it was kind of a culture shock of seeing golf in such a new light. Every tournament I had played up to that point had been eight people watching and no music,” said Ogletree.

Another golfer, Phil Mickelson, told 59News that he has his sights set on the future.

“I am more excited about the next hundred rounds. There were a lot more challenges in the first hundred and I see a lot more growth at a much faster rate in the next hundred rounds,” said Mickelson.

After the first round of play, Smash GC leads the team competition – shooting a collective -20.

Smash GC teammates Taylor Gooch and Jason Kokrak are tied with Sergio Munoz for first in the individual completion – shooting -7 on the day.

Last year’s individual champion, Bryson DeChambeau, is tied for 24th with a score of -2.

The action on Saturday, August 17, 2024 has been moved up to 11:15 in the morning due to potential weather issues.
