BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The school building that lay mostly quiet during the summer was awake with the sound of class bells and students roaming the halls.

At Woodrow Wilson High School, students were welcomed back, whether it was their first year of high school or the beginning of the end for seniors.

Some Woodrow Wilson High School students gave a little insight as to how the first day of classes went.

“The first day of school has gone great. Now getting to see some new teachers, some old teachers. Getting used to classes and seeing friends. It has been great so far, I am just excited to be back, to be back home,” said Ram Asaithambi, a 12th grader.

Senior Abby Dillon shared what advice she would give to up and coming freshmen who may be new to the high school experience.

“Don’t be afraid to try new things and get to know new people. Be open to meeting new people and trying new classes because Woodrow is a great place to be a part of,” said Dillion.

Some extracurricular events, like sports and clubs, have already kicked off.

Woodrow Wilson High School will host the Shirley Brown Invitational Volleyball competition on September 3rd.

Football games are right around the corner as well, and the students are more than excited to root on their home school.
