Scattered thunderstorms this evening; rain and storm chances tomorrow

Saturday evening brings in widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms as a cold front crosses. Heavy downpours will be possible along with one or two strong storms early in the evening, with damaging winds and hail being the biggest threats. Our severe threat should wane later tonight, but isolated rain showers will be possible into Sunday morning. Patchy fog will be possible as temps drop into the 60s.
Sunday morning will start with isolated showers around the region so expect a soggy trip to church. Temps should be much cooler with highs only in the 70s, but given our nearby cold front, we’ll have the chance for isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with one or two potentially bring strong to severe. We should be wrapped up by Sunday night with patchy fog possible.
Labor Day Monday is trending mostly on dry side as a high pressure system is expected to build in up to our north. A few clouds will help with the occasional sun glare during the morning commute, but cloud cover should erode away by dinnertime. Can’t rule out a stray shower down into Virginia, but we’ll mostly see sunshine with temps in the 70s!
Tuesday again is keeping high pressure around, which will help keep the sunny skies around. Mostly sunny skies are expected for any kids heading out to the bus and parents should enjoy an easy commute throughout the day! Temps are expected to once again stay in just the 70s!
Wednesday maintains our newest dry spell as high pressure again sticks around. Sun and clouds are expected as temps continue as our temps continue to stay rather cool out there with temps staying in the 70s.
Thursday is once again trending dry and sunny as our high pressure moves further out to the east. Sunny skies can be expected throughout the morning, carrying into the afternoon as temps start to warm up a bit. Temps will try to reach into the middle to upper 70s.
Friday sees our high pressure shift off to the east, but no before we get at least one more morning with sunny skies expected. As a system builds out to our west, clouds are expected to build as we move into the afternoon, along with the chance for a stray shower chance. Temps will look to finally crack into the 80s.
Saturday brings in the chance for showers and storms as our system crosses. It doesn’t look to rain all the time but be mindful of the occasional heavy rain shower and afternoon thunderstorm if you plan to go outside. Enough breaks in the clouds and temps will try to reach into the low 80s.
In your extended forecast, chance for showers look to continue into Sunday as our system crosses. We could see a few more lingering chances on Monday before chances diminish by Tuesday. Sunshine looks to return by the midweek to end of the week as temps climb back up into the 80s.
