Robert C. Byrd Clinic welcomes new executive director, Mary Page Nemcik

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — The Robert C. Byrd Clinic is welcoming a new executive director!

The clinic, located on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), announced that the former chief operating officer, Mary Page Nemcik, began her role in August.

Nemcik started at the Robert C. Byrd Clinic as the chief operating officer in 2021, and due to this transition, she will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the clinic in all capacities.

This is an exciting time of growth and change at the clinic. I’m surrounded by a team of talented providers and staff who are dedicated to serving our community, ensuring patients receive exceptional care and providing educational opportunities for resident physicians and medical students.

The president of WVSOM, James W. Nemitz, Ph.D., noted the clinic’s important role within the community and in relation to the medical school, and expressed his delight over Nemcik being chosen for her new role.

Besides its invaluable role in providing health care to the residents of Greenbrier County, the Robert C. Byrd Clinic is vital to the success of WVSOM, whose medical students gain important clinical experience there under the supervision of physicians. I’m appreciative for the excellent leadership Mary Page will provide in her new position, helping to ensure the clinic is sustainable and successful in achieving its mission.

In terms of education, Nemcik attained a bachelor’s degree in public relations from West Virginia University, moving on to attain a master’s degree in journalism and communications from Marshall University. After earning her degrees, she moved into the health care field by being hired as the director of marketing for Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. She later took on the role of the director of marketing and operations with at the Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy in Lewisburg, serving in that position for over 15 years.

She has also worked alongside Community Health Systems, serving the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and Plateau Medical Center.

The current chief operating officer, Drema Hill, Ph.D., has worked as the Robert C. Byrd Clinic’s interim chief executive officer since February of this year. She expressed her confidence that Nemcik is the best choice to guide the clinic into the future.

I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Mary Page Nemcik in the past months as we have stabilized and grown the Robert C. Byrd Clinic together. Our patients are fortunate to have someone with her intelligence, kindness, and business sense at the helm of this patient-centered medical practice and teaching facility.

As for Nemcik, she states that Dr. Hill and David Meadows, MBA, chief financial officer of WVSOM and interim chief financial officer at the clinic, were vital in keeping the clinic’s operations going as the search for the new director was underway.
