Annual Kids’ Classic Festival opens at Beckley Little League field

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The annual Kids’ Classic Festival opened in Beckley on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Beckley Little League field with a Home Run Derby.

Beckley Events Director Jill Moorefield, who plans the festival, said activities are planned throughout the week at Leisure Lanes, Salvation Army, Pottery Place and other local places.

“Then, Friday is the activities at the Youth Museum,” added Moorefield. “They stay open late that evening and have Funny Bones doing a show and balloon animals. They have a new exhibit, ‘How Things Work,’ that will be opening up this coming weekend, and then Saturday’s the street fair, the parade.”

Moorefield said a Pet Pageant will be hosted at the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The late Madrith Chambers of Beckley, a distinguished West Virginian, founded the festival, which is in its 31st year.
