Greenbrier Humane Society asking for help with their dogs, after second code red in three months

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) – The Greenbrier Humane Society is still on code red.

They have freed up space in the cat section of the building, but they do not have a spare kennel for anymore dogs.

This is their second pause on intakes in a matter of three months.

Nikita Honaker, office manager of the Greenbrier Humane Society, told 59News how you can help them get out of code red.

“Obviously, adopting would be fantastic. We are also looking for fosters. If anybody can foster a dog just to free up a kennel for a little bit and give that dog a break. We urge anybody if you find a stray dog, hold onto it for 7 days to finish through the stray hold and we can post a picture,” said Honaker.

Honaker also said that they need volunteers in any capacity. She said one of the volunteer duties includes helping walk the dogs, as it can take a while with the number of dogs they are currently taking care of.

They are also accepting donations.
