MOUNT HOPE, WV (WVNS) — The Mountain of Hope Organization is hosting the inaugural Gospel Explosion concert on Friday, September 21, 2024.

Held at Heart of God Ministries in Beckley and led by Bishop Fred T. Simmons, the event will support the organization’s scholarship fund. Lucretia Colston-Bolden, a gospel singer hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, will be headlining the musical celebration, led by Bishop Azel Colston, Jr. of Newark, New Jersey. He is currently the presiding Bishop of the Glorious Churches of God in Christ.

Ms. Bolden and Mr. Colston have ties to Fayette and Raleigh counties through their family. Also in the performance lineup is the Heart of God Mass Choir led by Sister Crystal Tucker from Beckley, Michelle Hargrove and Community of Praise from McDowell County, and Hallelujah Brothers and Sisters out of Fayette County.

The opportunity to host this concert is another opportunity for the Mountain of Hope Organization to further fulfill its mission of providing scholarships for local students. Since our inception, we have provided over $80,000 in scholarships and we are looking forward to providing the next $80,000, this concert will help us toward that goal.
