Warmer afternoons ahead before a few early weekend showers
By Joe Fitzwater,

Tonight features partly to mostly cloudy skies with our surface trough still hanging around. We’ll keep the skies dry, but the clouds will keep temperatures from becoming too chilly, as we’ll drop back into the low 50s.
Thursday sees high pressure head off to our northeast, which will begin to allow a southerly breeze to kick back in. As a result, temperatures will crank back up, as we’ll see high temperatures jump back up into the upper 70s with partly sunny skies. Backyard Barbecue will be in Prosperity, as we wrap up our season with Meteorologist Bradley Wells and the weather looks absolutely stellar!
Friday sees our next storm system begin to approach – a low-pressure system weakening over the Great Lakes. The greatest area of rain will remain north of us but by the overnight hours, a few showers will be possible, which will be most prevalent overnight Friday into Saturday morning. Temperatures out ahead of the front will jump to around 80 degrees with a southerly flow in place out ahead of our cold front.
Saturday begins on a wet note with a few showers around as our cold front crosses. Behind that front is some much cooler air and we’ll begin to dry out during the mid-afternoon from west to east. The cooler weather will be the headline for the weekend, with highs remaining in the upper 60s to right around 70 degrees. Overnight, low temperatures will dip back into the mid 40s in the lowlands, a few isolated patches of frost in the high country will be possible Saturday night and Sunday night both.
Sunday features plenty of sunshine and after a downright chilly start in the mid 40s, we’ll see high temperatures remain about ten degrees below normal for this time of year, with highs only in the mid to upper 60s.
Monday continues the theme of plenty of sunshine with high pressure nearly directly overhead. Outside of a few fair-weather cumulus clouds, it’s a quiet day once again with highs in the low to mid 70s.
Tuesday continues the warmer and dry pattern with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 70s.
Wednesday keeps the sunshine with a slight increase in temperature, as we jump up into the upper 70s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, we had some decent rainfall totals over the last few days but there’s not much overall ahead. Outside of this weekend’s rain chances, much of the following week looks dry once again. Temperatures will moderate toward 80 degrees on Thursday with low 80s by Friday. A few showers will be possible by Saturday with another system approaching.
