    West Virginia Department of Transportation announces transaction totals for 2024 Labor Day weekend

    CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — During Labor Day weekend in 2024, more than 400,000 transactions were made on the West Virginia Turnpike.

    According to a press release from the West Virginia Department of Transportation, on the 2024 Labor Day weekend from Friday, August 30, 2024, to Monday, September 2, 2024, the West Virginia Turnpike had a total of 414,212 transactions.

    There was a difference of 788 transactions over four days compared to estimated traffic counts, Monday was slightly lower than estimated but overall, the weekend ran very smooth, and operations were very good for the West Virginia Turnpike

    The total amount of transactions from the three toll plazas on the West Virginia Turnpike were close to the original estimates given by the West Virginia Parkways Authority , with only a 0.19 percent difference.

    Out of all the transactions that took place each day at the toll booths, the West Virginia Department of Transportation stated that the highest total during the 2024 Labor Day weekend went to the 140,960 transactions that took place on Friday, August 30, 2024.

    There were 91,446 transactions on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Sunday, September 1, 2024 had a total of 75,901 transactions, and there were a total of 105,905 transactions on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2024.
