MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Mercer County Schools will soon be switching to digital tickets for sporting events in October 2024.

According to a post on the Mercer County Public Schools Facebook page, on October 14, 2024 tickets for all sports will be digital only instead of also having a cash option.

The post stated that people buying tickets for sporting events can use the preferred way of pre-purchasing, or they can pay with a credit card at the gate of the event.

Starting on September 13, 2024, there will only be one gate at sports events that will accept cash, the rest of the gates will only accept digital tickets, before later fully switching to digital tickets in October 2024.

According to Mercer County Schools, the change will help with:

    • Faster entry times
    • Improved control and secutiry
    • More convenient for families
    • Environmental sustainability

Mercer County Schools stated that the QR codes for digital tickets can be found on the social media page for the respective schools.

What about tickets that are part of a school fundraiser? I have one that is good for one entry to a football game. How do you propose working with those that your students have sold?
