Man arrested in Nicholas County murder investigation

CALVIN, WV ( WVNS ) — One man is dead and another was arrested after an apparent murder in Nicholas County.

According to West Virginia State Police, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Troopers responded to a gunshot complaint at the Beaver Lake Campground in Calvin, West Virginia.

Further calls stated the victim, identified as Joseph Paul Turner, was laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head while the suspect, identified as Cliff Salisbury, was seen walking around carrying a rifle. Multiple Troopers and other local law enforcement responded to the scene and found Salisbury, taking him into custody without incident.

Details remain limited and the investigation into the shooting remains active.
