    Bluefield West Virginia Police Department welcomes new K-9

    BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — The Bluefield West Virginia Police Department welcomed a new K-9 to the department.

    According to a post on the Bluefield West Virginia Police Department’s Facebook page on Thursday, September 12, 2024, K-9 Mario is a new addition to the department.

    Mario is a two-year-old black lab who finished his certification for the West Virginia Police Canine Association, and he specializes in narcotic scent detection.

    K-9 Mario’s handler will be K-9 Patrolman SD Copenhaver, and the Facebook post stated that they look forward to serving the people of Bluefield, West Virginia.
