PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – The Spay and Neuter clinic is set to open soon in Mercer County.
It comes with many benefits and not just decreasing the number of strays in the area.

Researchers at Brown University say that fixing your animals can also benefit their health. Animals have a much lower rate of contracting contagious diseases and get into fewer fights.

One of the Best Friends Animal Society Regional Directors says the clinic shows great progress for the area.

“Research shows us that, you know, most people really want to get it done, but there’s a big access to care issues. So having that there, if people can get affordable spay neuter, it keeps their animals healthy or they’re less susceptible to different types of cancer,” said Stacy Rogers, the Regional Director for the Great Plains and Midwest.

Spaying and neutering can also deter more ‘unwanted’ behaviors such as spraying in cats or some aggression issues.
