Jurassic Quest event to make a stop in the Mountain State

CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — Life finds a way, as the interactive dinosaur event Jurassic Quest makes its way to West Virginia in 2024.

From September 13, 2024 through September 15, 2024, Jurassic Quest , the most popular interactive dinosaur event in North America, will make its way to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center .

The dates and times for the Jurassic Quest event at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center include:

• Friday, September 13, 2024: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday, September 14, 2024: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday, September 15, 2024: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Those who attend the three-day event will be able to experience a variety of hands-on activities, fun, and education for kids of all ages through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

Some activities at the Jurassic Quest event will include:

• Lifelike, scientifically-accurate dinosaur herd (some move and roar!)
• Live dinosaur shows all day
• The largest rideable dinosaurs in North America
• Interactive science and art activities including a giant fossil dig
• Real fossil exhibit featuring T-Rex teeth, a triceratops horn, and a life-size dinosaur skull
• “Tricera-tots” soft play area for our littlest explorers
• Bounce houses and inflatable attractions
• Photo opportunities
• Face painting

Throughout the day, there will also be an interactive Raptor Training Experience, as well as a chance to interact with Jurassic Quest baby dinosaurs such as Tyson the T-Rex, Cammie the Camarasaurus, and Trixie the Triceratops.

These are not the only activities that will be available at the event. There will also be a self-guided scavenger hunt-style activity called “The Quest,” where participants can learn about the different time periods and the dinosaurs.

“The Quest” will include a fact and fun-filled video tour that will include the dinosaur trainers Safari Sarah, Dino Dustin, Prehistoric Nick, and Park Ranger Marty. The activity will be available at the event and will also be able to be accessed on phones using a QR code.

The Jurassic Quest dinosaurs are made by working with paleontologists to recreate the looks of the dinosaurs. From the texture of their skin, fur, or feathers, to their tooth size and coloration, they are designed using research about what they looked like and how they moved.

The dinosaurs will also be grouped according to their eras to create a more realistic scene.

Tickets for the event are available now. Buying tickets online before the event is recommended to ensure the chosen date and availability, however tickets will also be available at the event. Arts and crafts activities, dinosaur exhibit access, and live dinosaur shows are included with general admission tickets.

Attendees will be able to upgrade their tickets to Kids Ultimate Tickets for children ages 2-10 years old. The ticket upgrade will include unlimited access to the fossil dig, dinosaur themed inflatable attractions, and stationery and walking dinosaur rides. Individual tickets will also be available at the event.

Children under 2 years old will be able to attend for free, strollers are allowed, and attendees can walk through Dinosaur at their own pace.

140 pounds is the maximum weight for the rides, and attendees can also contact the venue for accessibility features.
