MULLENS, WV (WVNS) — The bi-annual fire school that the Division of Forestry State Parks and Wildlife holds for new employees took place in September 2024.

People from all over the state make their way to Twin Falls Resort State Park to attend the sessions. Most of the new employees attend the training once and then proceed onto other fire related education programs.

Fires continue across multiple Mountain State counties

Mock fires, on screen simulator fires, and a group fire where all attendees will be involved will take place. An important note is that there will not be any real fires set. Some people will act as the fire with smoke bombs – to give the illusion of what an actual fire does.

The community aspect of this training helps those who work in the same industry create bonds. The relationship between those individuals helps one another out if they have to collaborate on a situation.
