BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Need to dispose of your household hazardous waste?

Raleigh County residents can dispose of their contaminated materials this Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

To mitigate the harm done to the local environment and in effort to improve the well-being of locals, the Beckley Area Foundation has put together this event for the community.

A lot of household items that you may not know what to do with can be dropped off:
Old paint, pesticides, expired batteries, medication, needles, things of that nature. Some things will not be accepted, for example – tires and electronics.

“The purpose of it is to, you know, keep the environment safe. And this is a good way to keep hazardous, hazardous materials away from the environment and disposed of properly,” said Jereme Evans, President of the Beckley Area Foundation.

Volunteers will be present at each station to unload vehicles and put waste in the designated areas. Raleigh County residents can attend the vehicle drop off from 8:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon on September 28th.
