Nice weekend weather, welcomed rain ahead next week!

Saturday continues the mainly dry pattern, with an isolated shower possible with a weak cold front passing through. This front is weak in that the airmass behind it is not any different than what’s in front of it. As a result, we’re only looking at a couple of showers from the late morning through the late afternoon. Highs temperatures will be toasty for our last day of summer, with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Sunday will be dry as we wrap up the weekend and begin fall on a warm on a summer-like note with high temperatures jumping up into the mid 80s.

Monday provides increasing chances for scattered showers as a warm front lifts north across the region and an area of low pressure approaches. We’ll still see a few peaks of sunshine but we’ll see partly cloudy skies in between showers with highs near 80.

Tuesday looks like a wet day across the two Virginias, with our approaching cold front slowing down and hanging near the area throughout the day. Numerous scattered showers are likely, which will drop highs back into the 70s. There will still be plenty of breaks, but chances are, you’ll get put under a few showers.

Wednesday keeps the risk for showers around as our cold front takes its sweet time moving away from the region, stalling nearby. High temperatures will dip back into the mid 70s.

Thursday continues our shower chances with an area of low pressure moving along our front. We’ll see temperatures in the mid 70s for highs.

Friday features mostly sunny skies with high pressure nosing back in, as we’ll see highs in the mid 70s.

Looking ahead in your extended forecast, we’ll be drying back out. High pressure looks dominant at this point for next weekend with dry conditions expected Saturday, Sunday and Monday with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Hopefully, next week’s rain beforehand will provide a little relief to our ongoing drought – at least our rain chances are solid!
