Welcome back rain; morning showers followed by afternoon storms for Monday

Monday sees a low pressure system arrive across the Great Lakes with a frontal boundary not far behind. This means you’ll need to dust off the rain coats this morning with hit or miss rain showers. We’ll likely catch a few breaks by lunchtime, which will get temps into the 70s, followed by late afternoon and evening showers and storms.
Monday evening sees scattered showers and some rumbles of thunder early. A few showers could produce some heavy rainfall at least early on. Later in the overnight, we’ll catch some breaks along the way under mostly cloudy skies. It will stay muggy and mild in the 60s before rain chances return later on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday sees a warm front lift off to the north early in the morning. This brings in the chance for some showers during the morning commute and as a cold front approaches, afternoon scattered showers and storms are expected. If we don’t see that many showers in the morning, some strong to severe storms are possible, with damaging winds and hail being the biggest threats, as well as the chance for some locally heavy rainfall with stronger storms.
Wednesday once again keeps the chance for some showers around as our cold front slowly crosses. It will take time for it to cross so expect showers to be isolated to scattered in nature, a few heavy downpours will occasionally create a headache if you’re hitting the road. At least temps stay in the 70s under cloudy skies.
Thursday begins a slow clearing process as our cold front departs. We’ll start off mostly cloudy during the morning, but sunshine does return from west to east throughout the day. A few more rain chances as our previous system leaves, but best chances will be held across the eastern mountains. Enough sunshine and temps will rise into the 70s.
Friday will start with building clouds and the chance for some rain as our attention turns to an investment forming up along the Gulf. This system looks to move inland across the southern U.S., giving us more chances for rain. Rain will be best across our southern counties Friday morning, becoming more scattered later in the day depending on its track.
Saturday begins the weekend unsettled as we contend with the remnants of our new investment. This will depend on its track of course but shower chances look possible in the morning, slowly clearing out as we get into the afternoon timeframe. With some peaks of sunshine possible, temps will look to get into the middle 70s.
Sunday deals with the lingering moisture left behind from our system. Chance for showers will be around on Sunday in hit or miss fashion as temps rise into the middle to upper 70s.
In your extended forecast, the following week is looking at even more chances for rain as a cold front looks to arrive by midweek. Expect rain chances to build as we get closer to Wednesday and temps are looking to be a lot cooler as we drop into the 70s and 60s.
