Bluefield Beaver Marching Band to host the Beaver Classic band competition at Mitchell Stadium

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — The Bluefield Beaver Marching Band will host their first-ever band competition in October 2024.

The Beaver Classic band competition will start around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, and will be hosted at Mitchell Stadium in the Bluefield area of Mercer County.

You know, it is the first one we’ve ever had, so to bring one to the Bluefield area, and for it to be represented in our community and have another one in our county is a really exciting time. It’s hard with a school like Bluefield that has so much history to do something for the first time, so this is really cool to get to be the first one ever in school history.

More than 15 bands will perform at the competition, with an exhibition performance from the Bluefield Beaver Marching Band. In addition to the band performances, there will also be vendors and concessions for attendees to enjoy.

• 9:45 a.m. – Princeton Senior High School
• 10:00 a.m. – Liberty High School
• 10:15 a.m. – Webster County High School
• 10:30 a.m. – Independence High School
• 10:45 a.m. – Fort Chiswell High School
• 11:00 a.m. – Graham High School
• 11:15 a.m. – Shady Spring High School
• 11:30 a.m. – Hurricane High School
• 11:45 a.m. – Break
• 12:15 p.m. – PikeView High School
• 12:30 p.m. – George Wythe High School
• 12:45 p.m. – James Monroe High School
• 1:00 p.m. – Woodrow Wilson High School
• 1:15 p.m. – Greenbrier East High School
• 1:30 p.m. – Cabell Midland High School
• 1:45 p.m. – Bluefield High School Exhibition Performance
• 2:10 p.m. – Awards Presentation

Those who want to enjoy more band performances on Saturday, October 5, 2024 will also be able to attend the Southern Thunder band competition at around 4:00 p.m. at Hunnicutt Stadium in the Princeton area of Mercer County.
