Tonight features mostly cloudy skies with a few isolated showers toward dawn. We’ll see temperatures remain mild, as we drop down into the low 60s. Patchy fog will develop where we’ve seen rain today.
Tuesday will be a wet day at times, with a boundary draped over the region and an upper level trough and associated front back to our west approaching the region. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are a good bet as a result, some of which could produce heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts – we haven’t talked about severe weather a lot over the last few months, but a few storms could become severe, depending on whether we see a lot of sunshine during the late morning/early afternoon. High temperatures will reach the low 80s. The best chance for severe weather will be during the late afternoon through around dinnertime.
Wednesday continues our unsettled weather pattern, with ample chances for rain as our approaching cold front stalls. We’ll see rounds of showers as a result during the day, which will provide some beneficial rainfall. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, some towns could see an inch of rain. High temperatures on Wednesday will dip back into the mid to upper 70s.
Thursday will be mainly dry, with only an isolated chance for a sprinkle. We’ll be watching Helene down in the Gulf of Mexico, as it will likely make landfall as a hurricane somewhere on Florida’s west coast and will then begin to approach our region. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s with increasing clouds late in the day.
Friday’s rain chances will depend on Helene’s exact track. A more westerly track brings less chances for rain for our region, with a more easterly track providing likely another dose of beneficial rainfall. We’ll have a better idea of Helene’s track as the storm develops and organizes over the next day. Scattered showers will be a good bet for Friday, with highs in the mid 70s.
Saturday continues the risk for a few scattered showers, with the remnants of Helene moving to our west and a low pressure system over the Carolinas. Saturday does not look like a wash at this point but a few showers will be around with highs in the mid 70s.
Sunday looks mainly dry with only an isolated chance for a shower as another dry weather pattern sets in for a couple of days with highs in the upper 70s.
Monday once again looks mainly dry with an isolated shower chance with Helene’s remnants still spinning off to our west with highs in the upper 70s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, we’re looking at a mainly dry pattern. Tuesday and Wednesday look dry with high pressure in control before another weak system looks to scoot into the area on Thursday and provide a few showers. Highs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will all be in the mid 70s, which is slightly above average for this time of year.
